ban comic sans

Well, I learned today that some people really really hate the font Comic Sans. I don't disagree. It's a ridiculous font. As someone in the clip below said, "Pretty much anybody under the age of 8th grade could use Comic Sans effectively, but that's about it." Never has a truer word been spoken.

Don't believe me that people have so much hate and rage against the silly font? Check out this Wall Street Journal article. Or this website, bancomicsans.com, whose "about us" page says:

"We are summoning forth the proletariat around the globe to aid us in this revolution. We call on the common man to rise up in revolt against this evil of typographical ignorance. We believe in the gospel message "ban comic sans." It shall be salvation to all who are literate. By banding together to eradicate this font from the face of the earth we strive to ensure that future generations will be liberated from this epidemic and never suffer this scourge that is the plague of our time."

Yeah, see, like I said. People really hate it. For more, check out the great video below. I especially like the clips of the college students.

In other font news (yeah I like fonts, what of it), the documentary Helvetica is one of my favorite documentaries. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

And now, Comic Sans. Enjoy:

(PS, thanks Today on the Interwebs for alerting me to the movement against Comic Sans.)
